Today was very exciting. Nasara was interviewed by Michael Alison Chandler from the Washington Post. She came to my daughter's elementary school, Saratoga Elementary, because she was impressed with the quality of care the clinic gives the diabetic kids as well as other children with special needs. She interviewed me too, since I used to work in that clinic when Nasara was in kindergarten. I don't want to say too much, because I plan on posting the article. Nasara will be expressing her thoughts soon. Peace and Blessings, Shelbee
IN HER WORDS
In my mind having Diabetes does not kill me it makes me stronger. And in real life it could not make me strong without GOD!
Today, when I went into the clinic, I saw this lady sitting and talking to my Mom and then I see this big guy with a big camera. My Mom tells me to have a seat, so I do and then the reporter started to ask me questions. I am so amazed, because it was all happening so fast and then she asked me how do I work the meter and how I drawl the insulin out of the vial for my lunch bolus and explained the units on the syringe. And the photographer took pictures of everything.
My day with the reporter was great.
